Code is "invalid"

I am not willing to put a credit card to get a 30day free trial. I don't own one. I'm 16. I usually pay for subscriptions with Itunes cards. This code, however is "invalid" according to Spotify. I got the gift card for Xmas and haven't used it. I'm using it now to get the 50 day trial. Help is needed.
