Create a Spotify password with email login with account created with facebook

My Question or Issue

I'm trying to make it possible to log in to my spotify with an email and password. I followed the initial normal password reset instructions found here https://accounts.spotify.com/en/password-reset on my phone, as well as the password reset here https://support.spotify.com/us/article/reset-password/. 

Both instances yield a notification that says "Oops! Something went wrong, please try again." but I have already exhausted password reset avenues and I think the issues is somewhere within the issues of spotify accounts created with facebook from back in the day.

My spotify account used to have another name on it before facebook locked down the username/ fristname lastname features, which my spotify account still has as my username, unfortunately. 

Is there another way I can correct and straighten out my spotify account so my username, email, and password are all what I determine? 

If not, can someone help me at least to be able to log in using just my email and a password?

Thanks for reaching out. 

Regarding the username (or display name rather, as usernames cannot be changed in any way), you can change it within the app as shown here. Your account being connected to Facebook shouldn't be an issue. 

Regarding the password reset, have you tried opening it in an incognito window or on other devices? The error you get isn't regarding the email address, so everything should work as expected.
