My Question or Issue

I have several friends who use Spotify only occasionally, and it seems as though if they haven't used Spotify in maybe a month or so that their profiles stop showing up in searches.

This isn't a big issue, since I can get to their profiles through the following/followers tabs and their names on playlists that I follow, but I am curious now.

Do profiles that have been inactive for a period of time stop showing up in searches?  If so, what is the time frame for that?

Thanks.

Hey there @LemonYeti,

As far as I'm aware Search are generated based off of searches and also how often/relevant they are to the searcher. As you've most likely searched for them before that's why they are ranking highly. I have no further information on this.

If your friends wish to have their information removed they can learn more about next steps in the Spotify Privacy Section here or request an account closure following the steps here.

Keep well,

Ok, interesting. Thanks for the reply. It doesn't really answer my question but reminded me why I started noticing this.

From using this program for several years now, I remember Spotify eventually removes artists off recently played artists lists, before you hit their tracking cap and the oldest are replaced to make room for the newest, I mean.

I cleared my recent searches and tried searching some friends again, still not showing up. And for some, their recently played artists list is very short, like just three to five artists, and missing some artists that I'm pretty certain I remember seeing on there at some point.

I suppose if Spotify already modifies searches based off relevance like you said, and removes artists from your list based on time, that the recently played artists or some other form of activity is likely a factor in relevance for profile searches. I can't think of anything else to explain this.

Thanks again.
