Downloading over mobile network

The new spotify looks like great and everything. But I just used it on my phone while at the gym where there is no wifi, I saved an album to my phone to listen to and have just found out it used 3GB of data doing something in the backround. I have no idea what it was doing as I have no new music downloaded on my phone and now I am looking at upwards of a $200 phone bill. WTF? Cheers spotify, never had any problems before but looking at cancelling my subscription now

That's a lot of data. What phone and operating system are you using? Is it possible you made a large playlist available offline and didn't let it finish downloading before leaving wifi reception? Is the option to download over 2G/3G enabled?
