Gift vouchers for Students

Dear Spotify team,

I have bought a gift coupon for a friend of mine (value 10€). This made her using Spotify Premium.

She is a university student so she get a reduced price. Unfortunately I realized that eventhough I paid 10€ for the voucher she can only use it for one month of premium which usually costs 5€ for her.

Now I have some troubles to understand your philosophy here:

I paid 10€ for a voucher that can only be used to spend for 5€ (one student month). I think gift vouchers a great opportunity for you to get more new premium members. But with the current logic gift vouchers for students are just a waste of 5€. I rather give my friends 10€ instead of buying a Spotify voucher which does not ensure that he spends the 10€ on Spotify Premium.

I hope I managed to communicate my concerns properly.

Thanks for posting your concerns.

I am not part of the Spotify team. but I do volunteer work here in the community to help users as part of their Rock Star program.

Spotify is aware of the feedback from users regarding gift cards and offers. Hopefully they can improve the way gift cards work in the future.

As of right now gift cards (also called vouchers) cannot be used with the student discount and the family plan. Instead they are redeemed at the regular rate.
