Netflix offer for selected Premium users only?

When I heard that Premium users could get Netflix for free the rest of 2012, I immediately signed up at netflix.com. I couldn't see any 'Spotify-Premium-user?' ads here, so i figured that I'd be advised when the first free month was over.

 

T o be sure, I contacted Netflix custumer sevice the 22th october. They told me, that the offer ended the 21st october, and that they could not help me.

 

I wrote spotify-support team, and was told that the offer was for selected users only. Well, that is odd since the ofer was able here:  

http://netflix.dk/spotify  - a public url open for everybody. A friend told me, he justed signed in here and got the free offer. Selected user?

 

I get news all the time form Spotify, but did not recieve any mail containing a Netflix-offer. Now I'm told it's only for selected users? If that's right, does anybody know which criteria spotify selected by? I've been a Premium subscriber since the launch in Denmark. I believe that should qualify!

 

And oh - the Spotify-supporter I've been communicating with, answered my question in general terms three mails in a row:

 

"I'm sorry that you don't find my responses satisfying. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have. The Netflix deal was sent out to random users via email. I appreciate your frustration at not receiving an email for the deal. If there's anything else that I can help you out with then please don't hesitate to get in touch (...)"

 

..except that  'selected users'  changed to 'random users' in this fifth and last mail from the support-team. Nice.  

 

Customer Service. I think not.

Just to clear up any confusion - the email containing the offer went out to selected random users, but was open to everyone as the URL was public. Apologies for any miscommunication regarding this.

 

And the expiry dates, per country, are as follows -

Sweden: 21 October 2012

Denmark: 22 October 2012
Norway: 23 October 2012
Finland: 24 October 2012

The Netflix offer is over tomorrow. So ask for offer another time from Netflix!!!

 

Offer is over tomorrow at 12:00 by Finnish time.

 

That answer is from Netflix Finland the Facebook page.

I didn't receive a mail from Spotify either. So I contacted / called netflix support and asked if the Spotify deal was still active and got the information to register through the website url - and got my free rest of the year deal activated.

This was on 18th.

I'v opted out to NOT receive any sort of mail from Spotify - I hate when my mail gets filled with all sort of mail. I use IMAP for my mail so I can't have in place filters that would push the e-mail to right folders.

Anyways to get back to the issue. If the deal was till 21th and you contacted them on 21th, think there is not much of people can do for you.

Sure its a shame you didn't get the information about the deal sooner.

This could be a different time since it was released on paces. Their offer has begun before our Finnish offer so it ends before ours. Sure if you try to ask again from Netflix - they are the ones who can help since it's their service. I dont' think Spotify can do much about this issue.

Well the offer ran out in Denmark two days ago. It's automated- Netflix launched in Finland two days after Denmark with the Spotify Premium offer, and expires to days later. But thanks anyway.

2 bad we couldn't help 😞

 

Surely we don't work for Spotify, and these are only our thoughts on the issue.

 

I could ask around if we could get an honest Staff comment to this.

@neo-X:  know you guys are users as well. Since I was rejected by the supportteam, I'd just like to hear if anybody had the same experience - and if they were offered a solution.

 

I saw the offer on Facebook, after I signed up with Netflix, which leaves me 'unselected' despite my Premium assignment since the launch in Denmark.

 

For me it's not about the extra month for free, but being told that the offer is for selected users only; the principle of differ between your customers.

 

Would be nice to hear from staff...

I'v escalated this to the Staff and hopefully we will get the official statement.

The offer was available for EVERYBODY who visited the netflix/spotify link. Using the offer did not require a Spotify account at all, only the link.

But it still was staged by country etc.

So because I signed up with Netflix immediately when launched i DK, before I heard about the special Spotify/netflix offer, I can't get the extention?

You could ask Netflix themselves about this. They're the best people to ask about this or any other Netflix promotions.

Nice to find this out when I already got netflix account. Maybe it's time to end spotify premium and be happy with netflix.

I haven’t got a response from Spotify either there not able to adjust the price
