Payment Reimbursement

Payment Reimbursement

So I had an old card set up for automatic payment and spotify was not able to take the payment and was going to cancel and that was fine because I did not have the funds, but some how without my permission spofity went and got my new information. I am the only one who has access to this account, I had cancelled with spotify but now my bank is charging me an overdraft fee, what number can I call to reciece the payment reimbursemt so I can contact my bank to drop that charge because I DID NOT give spotify any permission to change my billing infromation and I did cancel before the payment had went through, who can I contact about this?

Hi @christofernate. Foremost, the most likely cause of this issue is that your old card and your new card have the same number, for example, 123456799000000. These cards will most likely you have the same CVC as well, meaning that when Spotify charged your old card it was unintentionally processed to your new one because as far as Spotify can tell, there's no difference between the two.

As far as a refund, while I cannot guarantee anything, your best bet at being granted one will be by contacting support and explaining your predicament to them. Support can be reached one of three ways: through the online contact form; on twitter by reaching out to @SpotifyCares; or by sending a message to the Spotify Cares Facebook page. Please be aware that responses may take anywhere from 24-48 hours depending on the volume of tickets support is currently handling.

In regards to the contact form, upon filling it out you should receive a confirmation email, usually a generic message containing the information you provided and instructions to visit these forums. If after 24 hours you do not hear back from a support team member, please reply directly back to the confirmation email, even if it originates from a no-reply address. If you do not receive this confirmation email, please check your spam folder. If it is not present there, please attempt using one of the other contact methods, or, if you are unable to use the alternatives, please let me know.

I tried to get a student account I entered my card info and not the student info and exited out of the app but inwas still charged the $4.99 for the account will I be reimbursed for that and how long does it usually take?

Hey @armyman1198. That $4.99 charge you saw should be a pre-authorization charge. The short version is that these are holds on your account to ensure that it does, and will contain enough funds to cover the transaction when Spotify actually claims the funds. If the transaction was never completed then the hold should be dropped within a few business days and no funds actually taken from your account. Hope this clears things up. Cheers!
