My Question or Issue
One fateful day last week, I decided I wanted to change my username on my computer. What a terrible mistake that was. Upon changing it, all my libraries were suddenly gone, referencing the wrong user name. Frantically, I just gave in and changed everything back... Didn't want to deal with the struggle of moving things or investigating any further. I switched it back and everything more or less went back to normal, except Spotify...
Now when I get on the app, I have a completely empty library, despite being logged in. This happens even after logging out and back in, uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting computer... Something is wrong with the directory. I looked everywhere online and couldn't find anyone with this issue, but I imagine it's probably pretty simple.
My library is totally normal and intact on all my other devices.
Can anyone tell me what I need to change in my directory? Thanks!
Hi there @skalathamus!
You mentioned that everything looks good on your other devices. Is it possible that you accidentally logged in to another account on your Mac? I recommend checking out this article for more info on how to locate the correct one.
Cheers 🙂
Unfortunately, no, I'm logged into the correct account and don't have any others. The home page actually shows my current playlists, daylists, recent podcasts, etc... But when I click into them, I get a blank page.
Hey @skalathamus,
Thanks for the clarification!
Could you confirm you've tried a clean reinstall by following the steps here? I'm not that familiar with Macs, I'm afraid, but it's possible that the app still has data stored in some of the following folders:
I recommend checking those for any leftover Spotify files and removing them. It's also worth checking if your old account still exists in the Users folder. If it does, try removing any leftover Spotify files from there as well, and install Spotify again.
Hope this helps!
I am currently facing this same issue. I've followed the directions above an unable to find any spotify related files. Then proceed to redownload, install and login into my account. But still having the same issue of nothing loading...
Hey @1231374581,
Welcome to the Community and thank you for joining the conversation.
We appreciate the troubleshooting you've tried so far. Just to make sure we're on the same page, did you use the steps for a clean reinstall mentioned in this article when you did the process? If not, we'd recommend giving it a try to see if it makes any difference.
Also, would you mind checking if this happens when using the Web Player as well?
Lastly, include in your next response the model, and OS version of your Mac, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.
We'll be on the lookout for your response.
