Unable to change Spotify username, HUGE privacy concern

Right now it is not possible to change username, my Spotify username is my real name and I was only made aware recently that anyone can still see my username even if this is not made clear by Spotify (I would even argue that I was deceived to believe it was hidden). This is a huge privacy concern since the URL to a users Spotify profile contains their username!!!!

Please Spotify, if anyone reads this and cares enough, at least allow us to change it into something completely random (like when new accounts are created).

I understand that this is only a concern for us older users which is why it not considered worth the time/money investment for Spotify, but please reconsider, this is an issue a lot of people are facing.

It doesn't really matter when the idea was posted, as Spotify is actively monitoring the idea as it continues being supported by more and more users. 🙂

I have the exact same issue. I understand if Spotify doesn't allow users to change their username for identification purposes, but at least let us change it just once to a string of automatically generated letters and numbers, like when new accounts are created.

Not only is this a massive privacy issue, since most people are led to believe that setting everything else to private and changing their display name is enough to hide their identity, without knowing that their username can still very easily be found in their profile URL which entails a huge risk of doxxing. But this is also a huge inclusivity issue since I know of some cases of transgender people having to see their deadname in their username.

In my opinion, this should be a top priority for Spotify since this affects their oldest clients and as such we should have priority for our loyalty, otherwise we can terminate our premium accounts and go to competitor services that will actually listen to our concerns.
