deactivate spotify connect

deactivate spotify connect

I have Spotify running on two devices: At home and on my phone. Music is playing at home. When I'm on the road, I listen to podcasts on my phone. Unbearably, Spotify syncs the current playlist across devices. There is no way to disable remote control across devices, so both devices are ALWAYS in sync with each other. But I don't want that - especially since the function is shitty buggy and sometimes the playback on one device stutters as soon as I just open Spotify on the other device. That's just fucking annoying.

Hey @HermanWartburg,

Thanks for reaching out!

In order to be able to play via two separate playback devices, one would require two separate accounts.
Disabling Connect could help out in such situations, but that is not an implemented feature for the time being.
We do have an Idea regarding this on the Community though! If you feel like it, leave your Vote to it and share it with your peers 🙂
The more votes it gathers - the bigger the chances for implementation!

Hope this helps, even if only just a little.
Cheers!

Thanks, man! I voted.

This is a terrifying response. This tells me that all of my running Spotify applications  are "phoning home" over WWW to the Spotify central servers and those servers are choosing to pipe the content to any one of the devices that it has an active connection with? That's a network push operation, not a pull operation. This is surveillance and tracking software, and this response says it is permanently baked into the application? I didn't know Putin did your project management! Thanks for the enlightenment, I'll consider removing Spotify and going back to using raw mp3 content.
