[Android][Connect] Prevent Spotify from Autostarting / Autoplaying on Android

[Android][Connect] Prevent Spotify from Autostarting / Autoplaying on Android

I'm a premium user and have been a member since 2011. Spotify regularly autostarts and autoplays on my Android phone (Moto X Pure Edition) connected to Bluetooth, even over the top of other audio apps (Pandora, Overdrive, Audible, PocketCasts). For example, just this morning I was in the car listening to PocketCasts. I took a phone call. When the call terminated, Spotify started itself and started playing. THIS IS CRAZY AND SUPER ANNOYING! I had not used Spotify since I last power cycled the phone, and PocketCasts remained in the app tray.

This has been an issue for over three years:

The fact that the devs have looked at this and have decided not to fix it is pretty infuriating. The "fix" which was proposed is to force kill the background app.

WHAT!?!?

I'm fed up the point where I too am going to give Google Music a try. I've been using Spotify since before the launched in the US (I had an early invite when I lived in Europe) and it is very disappointing to see them ignore user issues like this.

I was able to easily move my playlists from Spotify to Google Music using https://freeyourmusic.com/
