App crashes when skipping songs

App crashes when skipping songs

When I am listening to a playlist on the Spotify app I frequently encounter crashes when I am skipping through a lot of tracks, the entire app will suddenly just lock up completely, I can't do anything within the app and Android doesn't throw up the old "Spotify isn't responding" popup but the music service seems to keep running since the music continues to play, if I try closing the app via the multitasking task manager the app does indeed close but the service continues to run and music keeps playing. Attempting to reopen the app doesn't work, I end up having to go into the application manager and forcefully kill app and all its services then reopen it.
I am using a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge running Android 6.0.1 and using app version 7.1.0.1025 armV7
This has only started happening since the latest update
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I am also experiencing issues with this on a Samsung Galaxy s4, Android 5.01, Spotify Version 7.2.0.1250

The app will play from a offline playlist (SD card) fine, as soon as I skip a track, the app locks up. The current song will contiue to play to the end and then silence. The UI still reacts, shows the artwork for the next track but does not play the track. I have to kill the app and reload to restore functionality.

Spotify is becoming more and more annoying as time goes on. Over the last few updates, they have broken the Ford Sync integration to the point where it's useless in my car, now I cannot even skip a track without problems. I'm really starting question why i'm paying for this service.

FWIW, I have all of the regular Android tweaks to prevent dozing and background apps being killed off.
