Battery drain on Nexus 6P

Battery drain on Nexus 6P

Hello,

I used Spotify Premium now for quite some time. Battery life wasn't always very good but that would be no problem when I am listening to music. But even when I am not using the app it seems to be still running in the background and draining battery because of some sort of network activity.

Brief description of the issue:

Using the app for a short while like 10 minutes results in constant rising battery usage over the whole day. The app is not used anymore but still seems to be sending network packets (wifi and mobile).

Steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Use the app in the morning
  2. wait
  3. look up the battery section within settings

What steps you’ve tried already:

  • Android factory reset
  • reinstalling Spotify
  • deactivating download on mobile

Device and OS:

I am using the Spotify app on a Nexus 6P with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Type of Spotify account you have (Free/ Premium):

Premium

The app version of Spotify you’re using:

5.6.0.701

Screenshots:

I added some screenshots from the Android battery settings.

You should try Greenify. It's an app which puts apps into hibernation when you are not using them.

It's completely safe, and if you don't see any improvements, you can just delete it.

I use it all the time.

Thanks for replying.
I already tried Greenify at some point. I am not sure if it was really helping. Does it affect playing music in the background when my screen is turned off?

However this would be more like a workaround than a solution. I don't see why there should be so much network activity when the app is not used.

It doesn't affect when Spotify is active and music playing.

If the battery drain is due to network activity, putting Spotify in offline mode could help.
