[Bug] Android application - Shuffle activates automatically and turning it off disables autoplay

Ever since the smart shuffle function was added to the android app, shuffle turned on automatically. Even after turning it off, it often turns itself back on after the phone is locked. Alternatively, if shuffle successfully deactivates, it also stops automatically playing the next song. This effectively means that I can't listen to a playlist in straight order.

Thanks for reaching out on the Community! Hope you don't mind us moving your post, as it fits better here.

 

Just to confirm, do you notice any difference after clearing stored cache? Make sure to log out from the app and back in again twice in a row once it's done. As odd as this may sound, completing these steps should resync your account info.

Another option is to do a clean reinstall of the app. This will clear cache too, as well as ensure that you're running the latest app version.

If that doesn't do the trick, can you let us know the make & model of your device, along with the Spotify version? A video showing how things look from your end would also be helpful.
