This is entirely possible by the following steps:
(Ensure SD card is not formatted for internal storage)
1. Open the SPOTIFY APP.
2. Click the picture which is 3 horizontal lines.
3. Click the COG wheel in the bottom right of the menu that appears for settings.
4. Scroll to the bottom to the OTHER section for STORAGE location preferences.
