How do I get podcasts to play in the same order as the sorting?

Solved!

How do I get podcasts to play in the same order as the sorting?

My podcast is sorted Newest to Oldest and I would like them to also *play* in that order too. However, when the newest one finishes, instead of moving down the list it jumps to a recommended podcast.

Hi there @Robyn11

Thanks for reaching out to the Community and welcome!

The sort and filter option in Podcasts only changes the order you see the episodes. If you have Newest selected, the newest episode you see will be the first one on the list. And if you have Oldest selected, the oldest episode will be the first one on the list. However, this doesn't change the way the episodes are played. Podcasts are always played from oldest to newest. The queue will always be in order. That means if you listen to the newest episode, there are no more episodes to play from that podcast and you will get a recommendation if Autoplay is on.

If you want to listen to an older episode from that same podcast once the newest is over, you can add it to your Queue. You can also create playlists with the episodes you want to listen to and that way, you can listen to the episodes from newest to oldest.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions or need anything else, the Community is here for you.

Thank you so much for your helpful reply xx

Bij mij speelt Spotify na elke podcastaflevering de trailer opnieuw af. Ik moet altijd handmatig naar de volgende. Heel vervelend in de auto of op de fiets. Wat kan ik hieraan doen?

Hey @Clau14,

Thank you for joining the conversation. Hope you don't mind me replying in English, as that's the official language of the Community!

Thats an odd behavior. To start investigating this, and to make sure we're covering all the basics, would you mind confirming if you have already performed a clean reinstall of the app on your device? If not, we'd recommend following the steps mentioned in this article

If the issue persists, would you mind checking on a different device (using your own account) to see if it makes any difference? If you don't have another one available, you can borrow one from a friend or family member to test it out.

Lastly, could you confirm if this is happening with all podcasts you've tried or is just a specific one? In case of being specific, could you share the link/URI of the podcast to take a better look?

We'll be on the lookout.
