My Question or Issue

I've noticed an issue for some time now on my mobile phone - when I use Spotify after a break from it, and I use Shuffle Play on my playlist (my normal way of using the Spotify app) it plays a random track for a short while then suddenly seems to reset and play a different song, as though I've pressed Shuffle Play again (I havent done anything in the app).  It's just a frustration rather than a big issue, but it starts playing a good song (thats why it's in my playlist 🙂  ) and then stops halfway through and wont let me go back to it (the new current track it's playing is treated as the first track it's played and I cant skip backwards to previous tracks).  I'm curious if anyone else has had this issue and if there's a simple fix for it?  Seems like a glitch / bug in the app to me but I dont want to reinstall or reset the app if I can help it.  I'm guessing it's not a setting that I can change to fix it?  It's almost like it's using a Scan feature where it plays the first 5 seconds of a track then skips to the next (only it does it with one track only and wont let me go back to it).

Hey @andrewjgriff,

Thanks for your post.

This sounds like someone might have gained access to your account. We'd recommend you run through the steps in this Support Article to make sure you're the only one logged in.

Let us know if this made a difference.

If not, It would be great if you can do a screen recording and upload it here (via attachment or as a link). This will help us see how things look on your end, as we tried to reproduce this but didn't get the same results.

Cheers. Don't hesitate to reach out again if you have questions.

Hi,

Confident nobody else has got access to my account - it only jumps once, normally within the first song, sometimes a bit later but within the first 3 songs for sure, and doesn't happen again.

I'm not sure the best way to do a screen recording of it on my phone.  The main issue is that it doesn't do it every time, only sometimes, so could be a lot of attempts to record it doing it before I actually catch it.

Also, I've only noticed it do it in my car when connected to a TaoTronics bluetooth receiver plugged in to my car's headphone 3.5mm jack.

I've followed the instructions here to uninstall and reinstall the app, hopefully that will help.  I did do this before but without clearing the cache and device data, so hopefully this time will be more effective than just uninstalling and reinstalling.  🙂

Thanks,

Andrew.

Hey @andrewjgriff

Thanks for your reply.

Could you try connecting a different phone to your Bluetooth device and let us know if you notice the same behavior?

If the clean reinstall doesn't do the trick, it would also be helpful to have the exact OS version of your device along with the exact Spotify version you're currently running.

We'll be on the lookout.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Maybe if I find myself travelling a lot and notice it happening more again I can try to test it the way you've suggested

I haven't noticed the issue as much recently (mainly due to not driving as much due to the pandemic - I'm an IT Consultant but haven't been travelling since March 2020).

Maybe if I find myself travelling a lot and notice it happening more again I can try to test it the way you've suggested.

Kind regards,

Andrew.
