Hey folks,
Thank you for your message and welcome to the Community.
We appreciate the troubleshooting you've done so far @JoselynHernandez. In this case, we can try a different process for you both:
1. Go to https://passwords.google.com/
2. In the search box look for Spotify.
3. Press the Delete button.
4. Re open Spotify app, and this time you will be able to enter your password.
Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.
Hey!
Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.
The Google Smart Lock is a Google feature made to save the passwords of your apps. To disable this feature with your Spotify app, we'd recommend following the steps listed by @itai7se in this post. This should do the trick.
However, if the issue still persists, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app. This is often an overlooked step, but it’s more thorough than a regular one and can be helpful to get rid of any cache that might be causing troubles with the Smart lock.
Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.
Hi!
I did everything, from force closing, clean re-install, reset password, removed all spotify passwords on all google accounts, turned smart lock off, check within my files to see if there's any Spotify folder/data, restarted device... Spotify keeps going back and forth trying to gain access using smart lock [even after I turned it off], then tells password & email combo' is incorrect but won't let me add it manually. I can gain access on other devices but not on my Android Samsung J3. What's the resolution?
same situation here just got my new phone so annoying

This doesn't work for me, the google smart lock keeps taking over as soon as the app loads. Using Samsung Galaxy 6S Edge+ with Android 7.
Hey @snocat,
Thanks for posting in the Community.
If the above solution doesn't work, it's best to reach out to Samsung support or Google support and ask them for further instructions on how to resolve this.
Let us know how it goes.
Exactly the same problem here. Very fustrating. I have try all: delete password in google smart lock, uninstall app, change password in Spotify...
I managed to fix mine by going into settings then Google then I found manage passwords and changed the password there, I thought I could do it on pc as my Google account is all linked up, turns out I had to do it on the phone.
I found a way working for me:
- go to https://passwords.google.com/
- disable "auto sign-in"
- Reopen spotofy and login (smart lock should not do anything now)
- enable again "auto sign-in" if you want to continue using it for any application.
Same problem here, the weird issue is that , when I repeat your steps, disabling "auto-sign-in" (checking it shows "disable" on the phone and on the computer) and re-open Spotify... smartlock is active and still blocks Spotify!!!!
I was having the same issue, couldn't disable smart lock no matter how many times I tried. Holy frustrating batman. Finally managed to change password for spotify on the phone using password manager.
I had this problem, the best option what you can do - connect facebook to your spotify account on website and then log in to spotify on phone by facebook
I had same issue (Nokia G60) but I fixed it. I opened browser on my phone, went to open.spotify.com, logged to my account and press 'go to app/use app' and I was switched to Spotify app and smart lock issue has gone finally.
Out of all the other responses this was the only thing that worked and I did it as a last resort because I hardly use facebook these days. Thanks for being better than Spotify's useless support.
I had this problem with an Android phone attempting to log into the Spotify app with a Google Smart Lock password from an outdated / in accessible email. I tried everything to no avail, UNTIL I created a 'new' free account through another Google Account, then signed out, then when I went to sign back in clicked NONE OF THE ABOVE for the old Smart Lock password, then manually entered in the correct credentials for my Spotify account. Gettting to that last screen that did not attempt to auto sign me in worked.
I found it best to: log into your phone google account>Manage Account>Security>Password Manager> either find Spotify app or add>change login details/password = should be good to go
YES! FINALLY! That did it for me, thank you
This worked after deleting password and then deleting and reinstalling the app. Thanks for your help OscarDC.
Still not work google sumart lock
