Spotify not working using WiFi on Laptop, but does work on the same network using a smartphone

I'm using Spotify on my laptop on a public WiFi network. I have to accept the terms when logging on.

* Spotify will say there is no internet connection when connected to the public network but other applications will work fine.

* I can use Spotify on Android/iPhone when connected to the same public WiFi network.

What do I need to do to get Spotify to recognise my WiFi connection on the laptop?

Are you trying to use the desktop application?

Does the web app work for you? If so, the network probably blocks ports and protocols used by the desktop app.
