Spotify still plays over bluetooth during phone calls

Spotify still plays over bluetooth during phone calls

I have an HTC One m8, lollipop version, and this recently started happening. I will be listening to Spotify through bluetooth in my car and if I make a call or a call comes in, the music will pause (like it should) for a bit, but then it'll start playing faintly in the backround of the call. I can hear it, but the person on the other end of the line can't. Does anyone else have this problem? Thanks!

Odd. It's not like that on my M9 or my wife's M8. Please read the guide linked below for details on the most common issues and how to fix them. Usually a clean install is the first step to take and resolves most of the usual issues; the guide details the steps to take to ensure a full 'clean installation' is achieved - This includes checking redundant folders and a REBOOT!

Yes, this happens with both mymoto x (2014) as well as my husband's. I think it might be a lollipop issue, since it did not happen on old moto g with previous version. It plays so loud the call cannot be heard. It's especially a problem while driving, not wanting to look at the phone to turn off spotify. It's ONLY a spotify problem, other streaming stops. We are probably going to cancel our subscription since it's such a problem, and not the only one (the connect feature has been VERY buggy).

I have also this very same problem. Came along with latest Spotify update, 4.0.0.800. My phone is Sony Xperia Z2 with lollipop 5.1.1. In addition, Spotify won't pause when Bluetooth connection is switched off. It keeps playing in my phone. These both problems appears in Pioneer FBT20 and also with Bt speaker JBL charge. Previously all functions were ok.

I have just started to have this problem since getting a new Nexus 6P.
Had the Samsung Note 3 which worked perfectly on both stock and custom firmware. Was on 5.1.1
Using a stock Nexus 6P running Marshmallow and while streaming to my Pioneer head unit in the car, the music continues to play (quieter) throughout the phone call. I don't think the person on the call could hear it though.
Any help would be appreciated

I also have the same problem in my car. Additionally today I find out that if someone call me when I listen music in headphones and unplug them, music doesn't stop playing and I hear both music and caller voice.

Just wondering if there are any fixes for these issues. I have a 2nd gen Moto-X. Have had it for a year with Spotify on it since day 1. Would not be exaggerating to say I have the app running every day. NEVER had issues until a couple weeks ago. Phone rings... Spotify plays music. Answer a call... Spotify plays music in the background. Disconnect BT headset... Spotify plays music at full volume on phone…REALLY sucks when it happens at work!! Have even closed the app… still plays music. I just uninstalled Spotify from my phone. Will re-install to see if that helps. If not, guess I will no longer be able to use Spotify on phone, which sucks because I pay for the premium version!!… PLEASE HELP!!!

Did re-installing help?

I have this problem as well. On a Nexus 6P with Andriod 6.0. Spotify 4.1.0.868.

These are the issues I'm struggling with:

1. Music plays after a hands free call is recieved. It just continues to play while on a call. Super annoying.

2. Music continues to play after disconnecting head phones off of the phones external speaker.

3. Song information stops updating via bluetooth on my cars display.

It seems like new bugs keep being introduced which greatly reduces my enjoyment in subscribing to Spotify. I hope someones looking into these issues.

I have a similar problem. If I answer a phone call the music never pauses and it just keeps playing at the same volume I had it at. that could be very loud. it's impossible to make any alterations to the Spotify music such as put it on pause or lower the volume until after I've answered or declined a phone call. Whether or not it's playing on the phone call itself is irrelevant because it's going to be loud enough at any volume for them to hear if its playing out of my speakers. I need an option to be created in the settings to make the music be paused when a phone call comes in. Options are always better than things automatically happening.

Seems that reinstalation of the spotify works for me. I made few calls from a car and music stops when I called. Thanks

😕 Today problem started again. Reinstalation isn't solution. Update from spotify team is necessary.

Same for me! I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. Seemed to be working until today. Music continued to play while I was trying to make a phone call. Anyone have other suggestions?

Same problem here. S
Plays through Bluetooth, since the last update

Hey guys!

There's already a lot of people reporting the same problem (me being one of them), and it'll be better and simpler if we were all on the same page (no pun intent!). The more we are on the same thread, the simpler it is for other like us to find us, instead of being spread all around and/or create a new one... (I found 5 different threads in the first 3 pages, all with the same issue). It would also give A LOT more visibility to a single thread, making it more obvious to the Spotify staff that we have an actual problem here.

So, I highly suggest you post your issues to the following thread, simply copy/paste what you've already posted here:

https://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-Android/Spotify-don-d-stop-playng-on-incoming-calls-Android/td...

After you do that, I would delete this one, or simply mark this thread as "solved" so we all gather together at the same place.

Also, don't forget to click the "ME TOO" green button at the on the first post of the thread.

I came up with a solution. I cancelled my spotify subscription today and I now have a google play music family plan for $15/mo which includes up to 6 people. It has more music and so far it seems way less buggy. I listen to music to get away from stress, and spotify was not allowing me to do that with all of it's annoying bugs!

I am having same issue on nexus 6p and honestly this is a bull **bleep** service. My boss called me while music playing on the background, I mean common this kinda of issue should be resolved imeediatly. I am canceling my subscription and going for either apple music or Google play.

Nexus 6p owners get 3 months free of google play just fyi... As much as I liked spotify's service the bugs in the application have now made me switch to google play. Looks like I'll cancel my service in the coming week or so.

I had the same problem with spotify 2 years ago on a galaxy s3 and switched to windows phone because of this. now i am back on android with a nexus 6p and this bug isn't solved. So i don't think spotify would fix it soon. I also have a google music account now and will cancel my spotify premium as soon as i moved my playlists.
