My Question or Issue

Version 8.8.24.2 is crashing when opening podcasts. Music seems to be ok with limited testing.

I am in the Alpha Testing group, this version of Spotify is the latest and it's will not play. It immediately crashes after opening. I have attached a screen capture of it for you. Let me know if you need anything else.

The phones processor is a Snapdragon 888 Qualcomm. Located in Canada.

Troubleshooting steps so far:

° cleared the cache

° cleared the data

° rebooted the device

° uninstall/reinstalled

° force closed the app/re cleared cache and data after reinstallation, uninstalled and then rebooted device, reinstalled.

° wiped the cache partition and rebooted

None of those steps worked as of now.

Regards,

Omar

My Question or Issue

Every time I try to click on a podcast or play a podcast episode through the search function. The app freezes and crashes.

 Reinstall has not worked.

Looked at a past post about same issues.

Took steps highlighted in that post to zero avail.

Podcasts can be played through Spotify's new 'swipe up' home page feed. (how convenient)

But issues with that are apparent as those are delivered to me at random and I cannot choose a podcast to play.

Music functions all seem fine.

Hi there @OmarAW

Thanks for reaching out and for all the info. Can you confirm if the last official version works as expected or if it's only the alpha version causing this? If possible, could you install both versions on a different Android device and see if it happens there? Additionally, your video doesn't open for some reason. Could you please upload it as an unlisted YouTube video and send us the link?

Keep us posted.

 I would like to add this too.
Description: When using the Spotify app on Android version 8.8.24.2 but in the beta version, the app crashes every time the user tries to view a podcast feed. This does not happen when accessing a podcast playlist (your episodes, new episodes, etc.) or when going to a specific episode.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the Spotify app on Android version 8.8.24.2
2. Go to the Browse tab and select Podcasts or Select podcast from the Home tab.
3. Choose any podcast and tap on it
4. Observe that the app crashes and closes
Expected result: The app should display the podcast feed with the episodes and details
Actual result: The app crashes and closes
Severity: High
Device: Samsung Galaxy S20
OS: Android 13
One UI Version: 5.1
```
Hey Joan,
Thank you for taking a look to this. I have tried to reproduce it on the Spotify app version 8.8.20.544, but I could not observe the app crash when viewing a podcast feed. To reinstate, the app crash only when accessing a podcast feed view, not when accessing a podcast episode.  It seems that this bug is specific to the version 8.8.24.2.
My environment details are as follows:
Device: Samsung Galaxy S20 Exynos variant
OS: Android 13
OneUI version: 5
Please let me know if you have any questions or need more information.
Best regard
I'm having the same problem on 8.8.24.2. Android 12 LG V60 ThinQ.
Hi there folks,
Thank you for the info. We've cascaded this to the appropriate team. The issue should be resolved before the official release of this version.
Cheers!
I have beta and I'm getting plagued with this same issue too. I hit play or if I'm in my car and it autoplays the app crashes. I've done everything Omar has too so its all Android 13 systems most likely
