Add MP3's to Spotify / MP3 Folders to Playlists

Add MP3's to Spotify / MP3 Folders to Playlists

Please read carefully 😉

I have a huge amount of MP3s from back in the days. I would like to add those to Spotify BUT not integrating the local files into spotify as a link. So I am not looking for spotify to play my local files. I want spotify to recognize the MP3s I have locally and automatically add those to my library (if available on Spotify). Is there a way to realize that?

Nice to have: It would be great to if I could convert local mp3 folders into spotify playlists. Of course only if the mp3 songs are available on spotify.

Why?

Because I want all old songs available on request and delete the Gigabytes on my harddrive.

I was googling my **bleep** off but I only get burried in cases where the import function gets explained - basically where Spotify is used to play the the local MP3s.

I'm also having trouble with this. I've read another topic where it says that if you import your local .mp3 files Spotify actually recognizes them and makes them available everywhere you play the songs, but that's not my case. The songs are grayed out. Any help?

Hello,

What you have to do is this:

1. Open Spotify

2. click on Spotify in your computer's menu bar

3. choose Preferences

4. Click "Add source" under "Local files"

5. Select the map you have your songs stored in

Your songs should now be under "Local Files" in the sidebar.

Now here's how to sync them to another device (Assuming you've made a playlist and added your local songs to it):

1. Make sure you're connected to the same Wi-Fi on both devices.

2. Open the app on your phone

3. Go to the playlist you created for your local files

4. They will be grey in the playlist, click "download" on your phone (the desktop app must be open too)

5. It will download, you're good to go (make sure not to lock your phone during the process)

Let me know if this worked!

If this solved your issue don't forget to mark this as "solved".
