Installation Failed on Mac

Solved!

Installation Failed on Mac

So I rebooted by mac and after doing so spotify will not install.

I have tried deleting the download as well as the cache (screen shot attached) and still nothing happens.

When I try to install I just get the message "An error occured while trying to download Spotify" and then sends me back to spotify.com to redownload which I have done. I have also restarted my computer several times.

Operating System: OS X Yosemite 10.10.3

Internet service: Xfinity USA

Please help!

Have the same issue.
I Perform a Clean Install on Yosemite 10.10.3

And now the installer just redirect me to the same page.
Already contact the @spotifyCares in twitter but no response.

Hopefully you get a response.

also Tried the Clear Cache of the Library, and didnt worked.

I have the exact same problem since yesterday. Also using OSX 10.10.3 but living in Germany.

Ah great. I had it downloaded yesterday but was trying to fix a user problem by restoring the hard drive and now this ha. Hopefully someone can help us figure this out.

Full .dmg download also failed, no failure message, just blink and quit.

Hello @ottonathan and Welcome to the community,

Can you please run the following command from the terminal ( make sure to navigate your terminal to Spotify.dmg location on your MAC )

sudo installer -package Spotify.dmg -target /

If something goes wrong, we will have output, which we can check.

Hi ? Wow, thank you so much for trying to help me out. I?m no Unix expert,
but I think I followed your suggestion. Here?s the output, first showing
that I think I navigated to the Downloads folder and verified the Spotify
files; then ran the install command you suggested. I find the ?not found?
error weird, but probably I?m doing something wrong?

Nathans-MBP-2:Downloads Nathan$ ls Spo*

Spotify.dmg SpotifyInstaller.zip

Nathans-MBP-2:Downloads Nathan$ sudo installer -package Spotify.dmg -target
/

installer: Error the package path specified was invalid: 'Spotify.dmg'.

Nathans-MBP-2:Downloads Nathan$

Hey @ottonathan,

No worries 🙂

Since I am Linux user, I don't have much clue of Mac OS.

I am going to setup VB ( Virtualbox ) and see if I can reproduce the issue or make script that will help us to troubleshoot the issue.

It will take up to 30m to set the VB if there are no issues : )
