If you look back through posts there's hundreds of people who have complained about ads being too loud, going back for years. Spotify's solution is to suggest you upgrade to paid service and you'll never hear an add again. Well, that's a MISERABLE answer. "Pay us and we'll fix it" is bananas, why would I spend money on a service that treats it's customers poorly?
Furthermore, this was a problem with terrestrial radio and TV, and so the FCC stepped in an passed a LAW about this: https://www.fcc.gov/media/policy/loud-commercials Spotify should follow the same guidance, not because it's the law, but because it's the obvious Right Thing To Do for people who use the service. A loud jarring commercial is going to have the opposite effect of it's intent on consumer behavior anyway, why would I buy a product with an obnoxious ad? It's also a safety issue: look back through the forums to find out why.
The thing that makes me most upset is this is a TRIVIAL issue for Spotify to address: write a script to average the last 10 minutes of music's volume and make sure the Ad's volume is no louder. That Spotify has not fixed this is a giant middle finger to it's users, and "pay us" does not adaquately address the issue. I won't pay for a service that tries to hold me hostage.

This is ILLEGAL IN THE UNITED STATES. These continual dismissive responses from Spotify support are unacceptable. You are ripe for a class-action lawsuit.
To be perfectly clear: IF YOU DO NOT STOP THIS ILLEGAL ACTIVITY, I AM GOING TO SUE SPOTIFY.
Please forward this to your legal department and stop ignoring your users.
for real.
The response "we will look into this one time issue" is not acceptable. Because it's not a one time issue.
If you need proof, you can simply search these forums (and other forums on the internet). this is a *pattern* of abuse of both customers and possibly the law, and it's easily proven.
Your form-letter-style reply to what might be the millionth user complaining about the loud ads, a problem that has persisted for years, that is present in every corner of the globe where you broadcast, that manifests on every operating system and browser, is a disingenuous bureaucratic runaround, and extremely insulting to the people who wonder why you cannot make this small, easy technical adjustment in the interests of human decency and fair play.
i am waiting for a class action suit so i can join. this has been going on WAY too long
Can the music of the add be less louder than the music. It woud same a lot af people a heartattack during the add
Add a mute button
The "bingo" ad is so loud I usually pull out my headphones. (I'm talking about it so there gimmick worked, [thumbs up] but I don't oblige to that type of 5hit, so [middle finger] to bingo.)
Or some way to volume the ads, so they're not hurting people physically, rupture eardrums. I see that lawsuit in there/your future, not from me but I'm sure someone out there is a karen!
How much extra do Fry's and AutoZone pay you to turn their ad's volume from 1 to 11? Nothing like listening to mellow music and suddenly going deaf when their ads play.
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
