My Question or Issue

I'm experiencing an issue with my Spotify aplication where I'm unable to adjust the volume as the volume slider appears to be locked. Also I can't change the device I'm playing music from, on the aplication, as it doesn't show any of my devices. Could you please assist me in resolving this issue? Your help is much appreciated.

Hi there @kiemon,

Thanks for reaching out. Regarding the device issue, are you referring to changing the output device on the PC itself or changing the device being controlled? If it's the latter, then any other active devices with the same Spotify account should appear in the Connect list. Is the list empty?

In any case, could you please send us a screen recording showcasing both issues? Then we can have a closer look and see what could be causing this. If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos.

Keep us posted.

Hi, i have the same issue, but in my case the spotify app volume button is locked. The only other way to bypass this issue is to use ctrl + up/down to change the volume. I have attached a image below, hope this will suffice.

I am using PC, and windows 11. I installed spotify thru web.

Thanks for the details, @Fortunqq.

If you haven't already, we suggest giving the app a clean reinstall as it can often help solve different issues with Spotify's performance. It's more detailed than a quick reinstall and you can follow the steps under Windows 10 here.

Something else you can try is restarting your PC and making sure you have a stable internet connection. It's also worth checking if the same thing happens with another device or the Web Player

Thanks, it works now!

Nah, didnt work. reinstalled spotify and rebooted pc, volume slider still greyed out. Even greyed out when trying the web app..

Why though, why remove this feature? without it im considering unsubbing my family. since we can no longer fully control a local tablet running spotify. (volume wise).

Just sucks dude, this seems like a issues from almost a DECADE ago, without any fixes.

Any ETA on a fix for spotify connect?

Yes, my devices and apps are fully up to date and even reinstalled spotify on all devices. Please skip step 1 in your script... this MUST be a known issue for you spotify personel, since the first time some poor soul posted here about it on this forum, was in 2014. That post is STILL without a fix. concerning.

Outraged.

Can't adjust volume on phone from tablet, or from tablet to phone.
Can adjust spotify volume on my pc, from my phone but not other way.

Hey @fixsoptifyconnectFFS,

Apologies for the confusion.

As you mention, the expected behavior would be to be able to control the volume of the PC with your phone using it as a remote. The other way around is sometimes possible but it does depend on many factors and we're not able to guarantee that it will work in every scenario. We appreciate your feedback as we're always working on improving the app.

Cheers,

Any updates on this issue?

It's been working perfectly for 10 years.  Obviously it's broken (by new features, ex: Jam).  Please escalate to Engineering.

Whenever I try using the app on my pc, the volume will always play at 100% and the slider does not work at all. However, when I try the web version it works perfectly fine. I don't know if others are having this problem but if there is a solution please let me know!
