[Android] Resizable Android Widget

As of 1/8/2018 the spotify widget is currently on a 1x4 size. Many newer phones have the ability to hold more icon columns (more than 4) therefore the spotify player looks poorly made and ill fitting. 

I know that google play, and samsung play provide the ability to resize the widget to match the width/# of icon columns you have on your screen.

Can it be possible to allow the widget to be resizeable like other music playing competitor apps? 

It feels weird that spotify doesn't take this idea into account. It has been submitted many times on the forum:

I assume it isn't that much work to do compared to some of the other ideas I have seen you guys implement. Please look into this, as there are definitely people complaining about this everywhere.

There is a simple solution, use different launcher which allows you to resize widgets. I'm using Microsoft launcher which works flawlessly. You can resize the widget to any size you like 😉 Hope it helps. It's kinda sad that Spotify team is not able to hear their customers and force them to use 3rd party aps to workaround such simple thing.

I am using nova launcher which is great, I shouldn't have to use another
launcher. It would just be more convenient if Spotify could add this
feature that many other apps offer. It feels lazy on their part.

Please do this, its a small thing that helps a lot with the akward space in the display

Seconded. Please make the widget resizable. It looks terrible on a new phone with a big screen.

I'm installing a tablet into my car to use it as a dashboard for navi, media and odb2, and using the homescreen and widgets to have access to diffrent sources at the same time.

When I was setup spotify on that device I was very astonished when I found out that the app only included one micro widget. Actually I could not belief it, so I was re-installing spotify and wend back to the play store to look for a widget-pack... to no avail...

This included widget is a joke at best. To use it while you drive is more than dangerous (just to play, skip, pause). I expected a set of widgets and a 4x4 widget with big control buttons would have been very welcome....

It appears this suggestion/new idea will just be buried. 

I saw on a previous post that had a similar suggestion had a comment from a Spotify employee stating that as it did not get the sufficient enough of votes it had been closed. 

It is such a reasonable suggestion and I am so disappointed with Spotify that we have received no further acknowledgment regarding the issue.
