[Android] App crashing when loading playlists

Hey folks!

You may have noticed that your Android apps might crash when you attempt opening your playlists. We've investigated this and found out that this may happen if they include local files.

We're currently looking into this but, in the meantime, we've confirmed that clearing you app's cached data and going for a complete clean reinstall should solve the issue 🙂

Hey folks!

We're marking this one as Fixed as the original issue has been resolved 🙂
For anything new that's bothering you, don't hesitate to write a new post in the Help boards 🙌🏼

Temporary Fix:

Clear Cached Data:

  • Go to Settings > Apps > [Your App] > Storage & Cache
  • Tap Clear Cache

Complete Clean Reinstall:

  1. Uninstall the app
  2. Restart your device
  3. Reinstall the latest version from the Google Play Store

This should resolve the issue while the developers work on a permanent fix. If the problem persists, check for app updates. 😊

Cleared the cache, uninstalled then reinstalled the app as suggested. The issue remains. Spotify will work on wi-fi but not on mobile data. I couldn't log into my account being on mobile data but could as soon as I got to a wi-fi area. On mobile, I might get up to 10 seconds of a song after start-up and then constant looping.

Hey folks!

This should now be resolved 🙂
Please take a look if the issue persists on your end and let us know in case it does. Much appreciated!

Still not working correctly.  Issues still remain as stated above.

I had the “same” issue when opening the Live events near you menu on Android 14. Clearing the cache fixed the problem.

I've just upgraded my phone and the app crashes whenever I go from listening to a podcast to using the DJ function. I have to uninstall/reinstall each time.

Yaki16

App crashes when trying to use DJ, or specific podcasts.

Cleared cache, and reinstalled app. Did not resolve the issue.

Spotify only tells you about how to comment or search up your issues as pertained by keywords, its about control I guess. They don't encourage or explain how to post your own thread & on top of that spotifys playback is not reliable & crashes leading me to have to reload the webpage or clear cache on every single platform & device I have ever used which now I'm starting to think their becoming a music company targeted to specific audiences who may pay for this service then those who are still accessably able to use it without a premium option in which if thats not an excuse for why this issue is occuring then I guess Spotify just sucks officially now. I am just expressing my opinion though
