Device

Macbook Pro 2021 (Apple M1 Max)

Operating System

Sonoma 14.0 (Public Release)
Current Spotify Version

Spotify for macOS (Apple Silicon) 1.2.21.1104.g42cf0a50

Issue
Once the desktop app is open, it loads for some time and shows the "Something went wrong" error message. Home screen never show up. This issue started after updating to the latest version of Spotify. I never faced this issue with the previous version of Spotify for macOS (Apple Silicon) 1.2.20.1218.

I have already tried the 'clean reinstall' and 'check host file' solutions suggested in the other threads, but had no luck. Can you please quickly look into this issue and provide me a solution?

Yep, I have exactly the same issue here on my MacBook Air M1 2020. Spotify v1.2.20 worked, v1.2.21 is broken.

This happens to me too on my MacBook.  The current Spotify version is 1.2.21.1104.g42cf0a50. Don't know how to fix it; maybe waiting for upgrading version of Spotify?

@kenzirowinoda This is one doggone issue, I’ve found a few other users with the same circumstances and am currently awaiting on a response from the higher ups. Does open . Spotify . Com work for you?

@lol005, @shukudai, @hackettlai, @br0k3n! If you are still experiencing issues with Spotify on your Mac’s, here are some steps that have been recommended:

1. Open Finder: Click on Go > Library. If you don’t see Library, press the option key while clicking on Go.

2. Navigate to Spotify’s Folder: Go to Application Support > Spotify.

3. Delete ‘prefs’ File: Look for a file named ‘prefs’ and delete it. This file contains info about your logged-in account.

4. Clear Users Folder: Also, within the Spotify folder, open the Users folder and delete its contents.

5. Restart Spotify: Restart the Spotify app to apply the changes.

If the issue still persists, consider disabling any antivirus or ad-blocking software on your Mac and turning off VPN if you’re using one. These steps should help get your app up and running smoothly.

Did we chase away the issue?

Hi Prague, follow your steps but it is still not working. Same error message.

lol005

Hi @Prague, I have followed all the recommended steps above and the problem still persists for me.
Also made sure any antivirus/ad-blocker/VPN are disabled.

FYI, open.spotify.com works just fine for me. Its only the latest version of Spotify desktop app having this issue.
