[Amazon Alexa] How to add Spotify kids account to Amazon Alexa device?

Solved!

[Amazon Alexa] How to add Spotify kids account to Amazon Alexa device?

I have a Spotify family account--and have created accounts for my kids through the Spotify Kids app.

How do I change their Alexa devices so that it references their Spotify Kids profiles....and not my Spotify account?

Thanks.

Hey @JoCastro,

Thanks for reaching out!

I'm afraid that it's still not possible to link Kids accounts to Alexa. However, feel free to add your Vote to this idea about using Spotify Connect with the Kids app or this idea about Smart devices.

Give us a shout if you have any further questions.

I think you posted your question in the wrong section. This is the "Idea Submissions" section.

Hey @nordoroy,
Thanks for the heads up, this has now been moved to the right place! 🙂

Best,

Hey there @camelduke,

Right now, Spotify currently only supports Spotify Kids through the dedicated application and it's not currently accessible through devices such as Alexa and Google Home. I'd recommend if you wish to potentially get this on Spotify's radar for future changes then you can create an idea in the Idea Exchange. You'll be able to find out how this all works in this handy Spotify Answer here

Have an awesome weekend,

Is this still the case?  Is Spotify kids still not accessible through other devices like Alexa?

Wondering the same!

Is this still the case?

Is this still the case? Surely there must be a solution for this.

also having this issue. very annoying tbh. wish there was a solution

Same here, need a solution for this

This is wild that they have not added this yet to Alexa. I think I’ll be canceling my Spotify.

I had to create a "burner account" from my Spotify Family plan that I linked to my Alexa. Remember to remove toggle the "allow explicit content" in the preferences of your Spotify burner account.

The main problem with Spotify is that my kids don't have devices, so they ask me to play music or they ask their kids Alexa, which is connected to my account.

This means my recommendations are messed up with kids' music, which is constantly added to my mixes, playlists, and recommendations.

Kids profiles would be much better, so I could switch to their profiles when playing music. Also, targeting account to a single Alexa device.

Why is this issue marked as 'Solved' on the forum?  The capability is being asked for by many members, and having this functionality would surely prevent so many subscribers moving to Amazon Music.  You just need someone who understands API code to enhance the Spotify Alexa Skill - https://developer.amazon.com/ja-JP/docs/alexa/custom-skills/personalize-experience-quick-reference.h...

Is this real? Why am I paying for a family account if I can't have multiple family members listening to music at the same time?  This is infuriating.  We switched from Amazon Music because we thought we would have better music selection with Spotify, but everyone in our house uses their Alexa device to listen to music and now suddenly I can't listen at the same time as my kids anymore.  Spotify is unusable and we will be switching back.  This seems like such a basic and fundamental piece of functionality for a "family" account.

To ngdross's point, this issue is most certainly not solved.  Allowing multiple family members to use Spotify at the same time is the singular reason we paid for the family account.

I'm surprised this isn't a higher priority, considering that it becomes a deciding factor for which family plan to purchase.  I haven't checked the latest stats, but I'm pretty sure Alexa is still the most widely used assistant, so that's a pretty large market share. And Spotify by many accounts is currently the best streaming service. To retain that spot and remain competitive long term, as more and more users purchase smart assistants, I would think that Spotify would want to have the maximum possible compatibility with major smart assistants on the market.  Now if you consider that the Echo comes with Amazon Music by default, and both Apple and Android come with Apple Music and YouTube music respectively, you'd need a fairly compelling argument to use Spotify instead of these services. The price point likely can't be significantly lower, so how else do you win and retain customers?  The family plan is essentially meaningless if you cannot implement it in your home. Frankly seems like a product oversight at this point.

It’s solved because they said so. And because we have audiobooks (only on primary user) and two price increases. Spotify doesn’t care to add features that paying users actually want.

What is the solution?

HAHAHAHAHAHA - This has been true for so many years, my kids have aged out. I first searched for an answer in 2021, and I was adding to a post from 2020. I'm sure the frustration is older than that! https://community.spotify.com/t5/Live-Ideas/All-Platforms-Other-Spotify-Kids-Amazon-Appstore/idc-p/5...

Just bought a family account thinking this would solve the issue, but it’s frustrating to see I can’t link my son’s account to Alexa. I can’t listen to my music while he listens to his. We will be switching back to apple.
