Customize Music Suggestions

I did not see this one listed but it is probably embedded in another idea.   Currently I listen to piano music as a bedtime/sleep ritual but I don't necessarily want that to be part of recommendations or playlists.  i have talked to others who have similar issues related to playing music for their kids vs them.   It would be a nice feature to allow the user to say whether or not they want a genre to be part of a playlist or separate them somehow.  Thanks!

Hey @bcrews12,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We hope you don't mind us moving your post out of the ideas section to one of our Help boards as it fits better here.

That being said, we can confirm there's a feature within the app with which you can exclude certain playlists from your recommendations. To do it, select the playlist you'd like to exclude from your recommendations and tap on its three-dot menu. From there, locate the Exclude from your taste profile option, so the tracks there won't affect your future music recommendations. You can read more about it in this article.

If you change your mind, and you'd like your playlists to be recommended on your taste profile, you can tap Include in your taste profile, in the same way you did previously to exclude. It's important to keep in mind this option is available only for playlists. It's also available in the desktop app and mobile app versions. You can exclude the piano playlist you mentioned by using this feature.

If the feature you have in mind is different from this, feel free to post your suggestion again, but make sure you add as many details as possible of what you'd like to see implemented on the app. The more detailed your feature request is, the better. It’s easier for other users to know what you’re suggesting, so they can add their support and feedback.

It’s also easier for us to share updates and talk to the right teams at Spotify. Ideas without enough relevant details will be closed. We welcome you to submit a new one with more info. Just take into account that you must follow our Idea Exchange guidelines, so your suggestion will be approved more quickly and smoothly.

We hope you found this helpful. Let us know if you need anything else.
