My Question or Issue

Recently I've noticed that my daily mixes and genre mixes are generated more than once daily (may apply to other generated mixes but I only use these two types).

Multiple times a day, when I go into the app (or focus it on PC), I find the mix I'm currently listening to change most, if not all of the songs inside it.

The "theme" of daily mixes stays the same however, the songs are the only things that change.

I think that you can understand that I find it pretty frustrating to go to the app to check if the current song I'm listening to is liked just to see the whole playlist change before my eyes. Especially since I may want to copy the mix to a playlist to save it for later if I really like it.

Also, an issue like this is especially annoying for a premium user

Hi there @AndyKills457,

Thanks for the post.

The Daily Mixes update automatically based on your music listening habits and when the algorithm has gathered enough data on your listening. I know it can be a bit frustrating when the songs change right when you start listening.

What you can try is to switch on Private Session on for a week or two. This way nothing you listen to will influence your recommendations, hence the Daily Mix should stop updating so often.

Hope this workaround helps.

My Daily Mixes have a special tendency to put in new musics during the day. Not only that, they have this special property, called magic, where they appear for short periods of time and disappear. The most impressive of all, is how the music added doesn’t fix at all in the genre of that particular playlist. Sorry Taylor Swift. You are not techno. Also this happens on iOS, Windows and Linux. Good luck Spotify devs 🙂

In that case I don't understand why they're called "Daily" mixes. That name gives the expectation that they will only change once a day.

Wouldn't it make more sense to call them something else? Like "Unique mix" for example?

For the genre and artist mixes though, I understand.

The Spotify algorithm isn't the best when it comes to genres. My rock mix is plagued with metal for example.

It's not like I don't love metal, I just don't want it mingling with my rock.
