It doesn't make any sense to open a port on your router cause its an internal communication between your mobile device/computer and your AV-Receiver.
I would make sense if your spotifiy wont work properly. But this shouldn't be the fix for this problem.

If you’re having problems getting Spotify online or syncing offline, you may need to change your router settings.
Why is this thread marked as solved?
It isn't 100% solved, a lot of people still have problems with Spotify Connect.

Hello,
Today I can't connect from my Android phone to my Denon AVR-X3100W. It appears as an available device, but when I press on it to connect it can't make the connection. Any suggestions?
Regards
Having the same problem as of today. My Denon X3100W is listed as a device, but I can't connect to it. Once I connect, the receiver seems to sort of reset after a while, and it mentions "please wait" in the text bar on the receiver.
It used to work fine before, for months. What suddenly happened and why can I not connect anymore?
Hi, Can someone let me know if this issue has been resolved? I downloaded the update of Spotify last week...October 2017. And now my Spotify function does not work through my Denon X3300W. I can play through AirPlay, But if I have the Spotify function on my reciever and it was working last week, I really would like to use it. Also it is more stable then AirPlay. I look forward to hearing any news. Thank you
Mine stoped today after update 30/10/17
When I use Connect with my Denon receiver, music is transmitted at 128 kbits/s, which is no better than online radio. Spotify settings say that higher quality settings aren't available when using other devices (receiver vs my iPhone). Why is default quality so low? Airplay sounds better than Connect -- could this be?
Mine stopped today after Denon Firmware Update. Anyone have any solutions?
Hello,
It’s annoying isn’t it.
Everytime I do a Spotify update the link stops working on my Denon.
I have not completed the Denon update as yet.
Everytime this happens, i leave it for a few days and then for some strange reason it just starts working again, and I get no problems from it again until the next update.
Sorry for not being able to help work out your problem.
Hi.
I using jvc player ( kw - v230bt ). At first, Spotify account can connect. After 1 day I using it. It cannot connect. Any solution?
I have a similar problem with my AVR-X2100W and found a solution after talking with a Denon tech (who was very helpful). This might work with other Denon models, too, and may need to be repeated after each Spotify update until they fix their problem.
1. While the receiver is on, press & hold the Zone 2 Source and Dimmer buttons for 10 seconds. This will initialize the receiver and disconnect the Wi-Fi connection. It will not affect speaker settings, but will delete any Favorite stations.
2. When initialization is complete, go to Set Up Assistant
3. Go to Network Assistant and reestablish your network.
4 Spotify Connect should work now, but you may need to turn the app off and then back on first.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for your solution , I upgraded my router and found that Spotify worked again and I asumed that the problem was with my old router , now I know that I needed to reconnect my Denon after each update, and that it was quite by coincidence that I solved it.
I got this rather dismissive e-mail from Spotify to my query going on about speakers not amp and saying they are no longer suporting Denon, it says a lot about customer care
"Huib mentioned you in The Spotify Community
As Spotify looks to improve the overall Spotify experience, they are removing the app from all Denon speakers.
Don’t worry, there are still plenty of ways to stream Spotify on your speaker! Check out their guide here or head to www.spotify.com/speakers/."
How that improves our experience I cannot see.Their link still shows Denon amps as using Spotify!
I have a 3300 and a paid subscription to Spotify. I don't have Sporify in my network to select from. I have Pandora but not Sporify. How do i get Spotify on receiver to select from?
