Different autoplay settings do not work anymore

Different autoplay settings do not work anymore

Operating System

Windows 10, Ubuntu 22.04

My Question or Issue

I always had different autoplay configurations on both computers. On Windows, Spotify should autoplay. On Ubuntu, it should not:

WindowsWindows

UbuntuUbuntu

(Why do they even look different?)

Without changing any of these settings, this does not work anymore. WIth the settings above, Spotify suddenly autoplays on Ubuntu, too. Only if I disable autoplay on Windows, it is disabled on Ubuntu.

Hi there @halloei,

Thanks for the post.

Spotify is not officially supported on Linux and Unix based systems. We can't guarantee that the Ubuntu app will work as expected or have the same set of settings as the Windows Desktop app.

The setting on the Windows app acts as a global switch for all devices, like smart speakers/ TVs and other apps apart from the mobile app. This is why the Windows setting is affecting your Ubuntu app.

Unfortunately there is no way to se this manually on the Ubuntu, without it being affected from the settings of the Windows app.

Hope this info helps.

Hi Alex,

thanks for your answer. I was hoping you would have better news for me.

Personally, I'd prefer a device-side setting instead of a global one because I'm using each device for different occasions:

When I'm working, I'd like to activate autoplay to not be interrupted from my work when the music ends.

When I'm on my private PC, I'd disable autoplay to focus more on what I'm listening to.

Furthermore, it's a pity that Spotify is not officially supported on Linux. Most of the work is obviously already done and Spotify, as the largest of all streaming services, should be interested in reaching as large an customers as possible.

Best regards
