My Question or Issue
I have been newly frequently using the jam feature at work with some colleagues and have been experiencing some consistent issues. To put a list of some of them, I will start by prefacing that these issues will stop and start at a pretty random basis minus pretty consistent song skipping randomly 2 seconds ahead or behind. To get it out of the way I have redownloaded the app, restarted my phone, done a hard reset on the app based on their suggestions for issues with spotify, tried this on multiple devices, and spoken to other individuals who I have started to use jam with on a multitude of devices to make sure it was not isolated and they all are having the same issues:
1. The song will periodically start and play for 2 seconds, then cut and restart but by the time the song is ending it is almost like Spotify is trying to "catch up" and will end the song at the "appropriate time" but to the user it sounds like it cuts early.
2. Whenever a song is added to the queue the music cuts and glitches for everyone in the jam, and occasionally the song will not even add itself or will add itself randomly a long period of time later.
3. The glitch and cutting of songs for every user also occurs, but more significantly, when a song is moved in the queue.
4. Occasionally if you add a song to the queue, move a song in the queue, or really interact with any real song related to anything while in a jam the song will restart over and over and over again every time you do this but the same behavior will occur where Spotify seems to attempt to "catch up" and will cut the song after the time passes where the song was "supposed" to end. This will switch from happening to one user where they will be significantly off from the rest of the listeners and just hearing the song keeps restarting every time an action is done or will occasionally affect all jam participants.
I have reached out previously to support and got Spotify to stop these issues for about an hour after doing a hard uninstall of Spotify but after this I found that others were experiencing this and the issues resumed so I thought I would make a post in case this was useful for others.
Thank you!
This happens to me too. We both use the jam feature on Windows. The person who starts the jam has everything working well, but for the person who joins the jam, when songs change they always cut early by like 5 seconds to skip to the next song, but then they also rewind about 5 seconds after starting, effectively canceling the "sync" and just being extremely annoying each time a song is switched. When this happens every 3 minutes or so, the feature is pretty much unusable.
Hey folks,
Thanks for reaching out here in the Community.
@AshIsOnFire, thank you for the detailed information you provided!
@RoyTr, have you tried any troubleshooting steps such as a clean reinstall? This is often an overlooked step, but it can be helpful to remove any cache that might be causing trouble.
If that doesn't do the trick, could you let us know if the same thing happens when you start a Jam from a mobile device?
We'll be on the lookout.
I have tried every single mod suggestion from about four different posts of this with zero solution. Different platforms. Different browsers, clean install, host switching. Nothing. Why is it still an issue?
Hi @bbgun_le,
Thanks for your reply in this thread, and for letting us know about all the troubleshooting steps you've tried.
First up, we'd liked to get more info about this behavior. First up, are you experiencing the exact same issues described in the original post? If not, could you give us a detailed description? Additionally, could you please let us know the device make, model and operating system you're using? And have you tried using a different device to check if you have the same issue?
Lastly, we understand you're not the only ones experiencing this intermittences when using the Jam feature, so it'd be really helpful if you can tell the other users you use the Jam with, to post about it on this thread. The more reports we have, the better.
We'll keep an eye out for your reply.
I experienced the exact same issues mentioned every time I do a Jam session with my friends. It's proper annoying that we would ultimately end the session because it was spoiling the fun entirely.
Hey @Purplehead,
Thanks for reaching out.
Have you tried any of the troubleshooting steps mentioned above? If not, you can always start with a clean reinstall of the app.
If that doesn't do the trick, send over the make, model, OS version and the Spotify version currently running on the affected device.
We'll be on the lookout.

My Question or Issue
Me and my friend who is my partner on my Spotify Duo can't use Jams, when I start a Jam and invite my friend to join he can join and hear my current song and the songs next in queue, but if I pause or skip a song then nothing happens on his side and our songs become desynced.
