Plagiarized Music

Plagiarized Music

I was not able to make a copyright claim through the form for these songs as I am not the original rights holder for these songs. However, as a fan of the artist's work, I felt I had to make a post to let Spotify users not stream these songs as they are stolen and unauthorized re-uploads. I was unable to report via the Spotify Web Player (could not right-click these songs to report) nor from the online form. By posting this, I hope that Spotify would make easier ways to allow general users to mark songs as plagiarized within the Web Player and through forms. It's frustrating as a fan, and I'm sure to all artists, to see their music re-uploaded without permission.

The songs that are plagiarized:

https://open.spotify.com/track/2gdHpw0GFAqruwFkp2xwF1

https://open.spotify.com/track/3oF0qtO9po2EdUoJSrSI62

These two tracks are unauthorized, plagiarized re-uploads of Vocaloid producer Rohi - their official Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/c/%E3%82%8D%E3%81%B2ch) and official Nico Nico Douga (https://www.nicovideo.jp/user/20097010/mylist/23704891) accounts. The Nico Nico Douga account has Rohi's original uploads of each song - 孤独≒エゴイズム (Lonely Egosim) uploaded on 6/7/2012 and 隔絶≡タナトス (Lonely Thanatos) uploaded on 1/23/2013. In no shape or form does either of these accounts mention the user bikkoism or refer to them as being an official re-uploader and/or distributor of their music. The original songs - 孤独≒エゴイズム (plagiarized by bikkoism as the song kodoku) and 隔絶≡タナトス (which bikkoism calls kakuzetsu) are not on Spotify whatsoever. Rohi does not have an official Spotify account and their music should not be distributed by someone that isn't them. On Youtube, an upload of the song kakuzetsu (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwtYcQUTpTQ) notes that the record company as '℗ 1442715 Records DK' which has no affiliation with Rohi. Their personal website (https://www.ろひ.com/) does not mention this company, nor do they have a Spotify page linked. The only ways Rohi's music has been posted are on their Youtube and Nico Nico Douga accounts.

Thank you so much for your time for reading and I really sincerely hope that these songs can be removed.

Hey @kavinskies,

Thanks for posting in the Community and for reporting this.

As only the owner of the content rights can make a copyright claim, as you've stated, we advise you to reach out to the copyright owners so they can report this through the proper channel. It is also worth reaching out to the artist through their social media so they can report it from their end aswell.

Rest assured, we've let the right team know about this and they'll be keeping an eye out for reports from the content copyright owners.

Hope this helps,

Cheers!

@Dian

A very similar situation has happened to me. However in my case I am the original artist and I just found that someone uploaded some audio productions I only made for my youtube channel.

Now that I am trying to upload my music productions, the distributor is not allowing me because they detect that the registered artist for such tracks are under a different artist name than mine.

I already submited a claim to Spotify, it has been 3 weeks and I have not gotten a reply to my last email, so I am not sure if they are really doing anything about it.

Hey @Avith,

Thank you for your reply in this thread.

If you're an artist, we'd suggest that you visit this webpage and follow the steps to report mixed up music on Spotify.

Hope this helps. Take care 🙂

Hi all,

This is ridiculous, why non-owners are unable to report that someone else's music is being stolen?

We can report other issues in the content we are seeing, but we can't report copyright infringement unless we own the rights to the music?

It's like, you're seeing burglars breaking into some house and you call the police and they say "we don't accept reports from 3rd party callers". It's a joke!

I know that I can flag/hide such thief account for myself so I won't stream his content anymore, but I want to help true artists and stop the thieves from making money.

Is there any solution or workaround?

cheers

J
