Podcast rewinds when I unlock phone

My Question or Issue

When I unlock my phone, podcasts rewind to the last place they were last time the phone was unlocked (or the beginning if it started while the phone was locked. This is frustrating as it’s very difficult to find my place afterwards.

Just to confirm, is this happening with downloaded content or when you're streaming as well? 

First up, it's well worth running a clean reinstall of the app to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble. 

If the issue persists, could you ask a friend or a relative to log in to their account on your iPhone to check if they can replicate this behavior with their account? This will help us determine if the issue is account-related. 

Additionally, sending us a screen recording would come in handy.  You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).
