Podcast stops playing after 2 hours

My Question or Issue

Anytime I try to listen to a podcast longer than 2 hours, it automatically pauses a little after the two hour mark. This is extremely frustrating as I like to use the white noise podcasts to fall asleep. I have tried updating my Spotify & it still does it. Any suggestions??

Also for the next update, if y’all could consider please adding a loop/repeat feature for podcasts that would be amazing!

Does this happen with all podcasts or only with the white noise ones? Send us a few examples so we can check on our end. Also, do they pause if you skip to the 2-hour mark? Have you tested this with music?

Apart from updating the app, you can also try logging out and back in a couple of times or performing a clean reinstall. Also, make sure that Background app refresh is enabled for the Spotify app and you don't have any system settings that might be preventing audio from playing for long periods of time (e.g. battery saver).

Thanks for your reply here and welcome. 

In this case, and if you're using an iPhone, we'd suggest you make sure the Background App Refresh feature is enabled for Spotify. The Background App Refresh option allows the apps on your iPhone to automatically search for new information even if they're not directly running on the screen. Go to settings> General> Background App Refresh.

If the above doesn't do the trick, then, we'd like to gather some additional info. Please send us:

• The exact make/model and OS of the affected device.
• The exact Spotify version you're running.
• Does this happen when playing a specific show?
