Podcasts don't play anymore

Podcasts don't play anymore

Plan: Premium; Country: The Netherlands; Device: Samsung S24, Iphone and laptop as well; Operating System: One UI 6.1 (for samsung phone)

 

My Question or Issue:

Hi,

For over two weeks now some podcasts haven’t been playing anymore. I have tried other devices and accounts as well, and the podcasts also don’t play on those. Or some start randomly playing after an hour or so. I do see in the comments that other people do have access. The weird thing is, that it only happens to some podcasts. I don’t show it in the video, but some English podcasts don’t play either (so it’s not just the Dutch ones).

 

I have had this problem before, but back then it only lasted a day or two. I have tried everything I could find: internet and phone restart, deleting cache, redownloading spotify (no updates were required), even more.

 

Hopefully somebody can help! Thank you so much.

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Spotify Community!

 

I tested this out with the same podcast episode from the video you sent, but it did play for me, so let's try to troubleshoot. Since the recording is from the Web Player, I wanted to double-check if the same thing happens for you in the mobile or desktop app? If you don't have them installed, check out this guide.

 

Can you also try a different internet connection like a different WiFi, ethernet, or mobile data? If possible, you can start a hotspot from your phone and connect your laptop to it to see if you notice any difference. 

 

When it comes to using the Web Player, you can also try opening it in an incognito window and in a different browser to check if the issue persists.

Thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately the podcasts also don't work in the apps, with different internet connections or with incognito mode.

<span;>Maybe another clue: I notice that on my laptop it sometimes gives a message that translates to "Spotify cannot play this right now". Any other ideas?

If you're seeing this error message on your laptop, we'd recommend trying the troubleshooting suggested in this FAQ

 

Regarding your phone - does the behavior look the same or it's different? You've mentioned you've tested this with different internet connection - are they all from the same internet provider? If yes, try a different one and let us know how it goes.

Thank you again for your help. Somehow the podcasts started working again without me doing anything. I still don't understand what went wrong, but just happy they work now. Thanks again!
