My Question or Issue

I've been using the connect feature to listen through my Roku TV for a while and it appears as though my TV is counting a few seconds ahead of the actual playback. I could understand it counting a few seconds behind due to network issues, but a few seconds ahead is weird since my phone is the hosting device. Sometimes it won't even refresh the progress bar on my TV when the song finishes and moves to the next. This appears to largely be a syncing issue between my phone (OnePlus Nord N30 5g [CPH2515] on OxygenOS, Android 14) and my TV. The same issue appears when using my laptop (Asus TUF Gaming F17, Windows 11) to connect to my TV, and it only happens on my TV. When connecting to my laptop with my phone or vice versa, there are no issues at all.

Hey @MarcusMitchell,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We'd suggest you start off by removing Spotify from your Roku TV. To do that, you can follow these steps:

  1. Press the Home button on your Roku remote and choose the Spotify app.
  2. Press the Asterisk symbol button on the remote and choose Select Channel then remove Spotify from Roku.
  3. Perform a soft reset your Roku (turn it off then on).
  4. Press Home again to return to the main screen and choose Streaming Channels > Search Channels.
  5. Search Spotify in the Search Channels and select Add Channel to add Spotify to your Roku device.

We'd also suggest you clear the cache on both your mobile device and computer. You can follow the steps in this article to do it.

If the above doesn't do the trick, we'd like to confirm:

  • Does this happen over WiFi? 3G/4G? Both? Do you notice any difference if you switch the internet connection you're using? You can create a hotspot on your phone and connect to both the Roku and your computer.
  • Has the app on your TV always been behaving like this or did it start to happen after a specific event such as an OS update?

Keep us in the loop!
