Request to Restore Useful Audiobook Features

Request to Restore Useful Audiobook Features

My Question or Issue

Hi Spotify team,

I mostly listen to audiobooks, and I really miss two features that made this easy:

1. The “search within album” function — this was super helpful for finding where I left off.

2. Clicking on a title in “Recently Played” used to bring me to its exact place in the album — now it just shows the top of the album, and I lose track.

With series that have over 1,500 episodes, it’s frustrating to scroll for minutes just to find the right track — and I have to do that every time I continue listening.

Would love to see these features return or a better solution for audiobook users.

Thanks!

Hey, @Outlander1780,

Welcome to the Spotify Community!

Just wanted to clarify that you're most likely talking about audiobooks uploaded as podcasts or albums. Note that these differ from audiobooks available as OTPs and audiobooks included in Premium.

The search bar should show up by swiping down while at the top of the podcast. It's not available for albums though, so if you don't see it on your end, perhaps the audiobook was uploaded as an album.

By "Recently played" you mean Recents, right? If so, the app's behavior also depends on the type of content: Currently, if you select an episode, it should take you to the saved position for that particular podcast. If it's an album, you'll be taken to the top instead. We’re regularly looking for opportunities to enhance the user experience for everyone though, so your feedback on this is greatly appreciated.

In the meantime, make sure you're always running the latest version of Spotify so you don't miss out on any updates.

The Community is here if there's anything else you need assistance with.

Cheers 🤘
