Roku app playing wrong songs

Roku app playing wrong songs

The Spotify Roku app plays the wrong songs within some Spotify-created playlists such as Daily Mix 1 & Daily Mix 2. For example, if I want to hear Mr. Sandman by Chet Atkins, the app will play Purple Rain by Dwight Yokam, which is also in that playlist. However, the wrong song played is not always in that playlist. Often, but not always, the wrong song played is by the same artist as the song I selected.
This type of error happens no matter how I play the list, such as forwarding to the next song, specifically selecting a song, or letting the playlist play all songs in order. The song randomizer is OFF and none of the songs are marked as unplayable.

Hey there @Quick_As_Dreams,

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

Just to confirm, is this only happening on your Made for you playlists or on all of your playlists? We'd also like to know if this only happens on your Roku.

On another note, we suggest that you check if the software of your Roku has any pending updates.

We'll be on the lookout.

HI,
this only happening on my Made for You playlists as far as I have been able
to see. This only happens on my Roku, it does not happen on my Android or
Windows devices.

I had already checked the software of my Roku for any pending updates and
had uninstalled and reinstalled the Spotify software.

Thank you for any info you can give me on this issue.

Hey @Quick_As_Dreams,

Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.

In this case, would you mind sending us a video recording of the behavior you kindly described? You can attach the video in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google drive and make it public, so we can watch it.

On another note, just to confirm, is this happening when you use the Connect feature to control the music on your Roku from another device, or does it happen just when you control Spotify directly from your TV?

Lastly, just to confirm, has the app always been behaving like this or does it start to happen after a specific event such as an OS update? Please send us the details about it.

Keep us in the loop!

I will make a video and let you know when it is posted.

Youtube might have blocked this videou due to copyright matches.

The issue is still occuring and I am uploading a video showing the issue that I recorded today. I will upload the video to my Youtube account and make it public.
I only ever control the Spotify app for Roku directly from my TV using my Roku remote.
I have had spotify for many years and I am certain this was not an issue before I first noticed it on or around Mar.15, 2023. I do not use the Roku TV for Spotify daily, though.
To avoid a lengthy viewing, the video I am uploading will only show the error as I attempt to select specific songs. However, this type of error happens no matter how I play the list, such as forwarding to the next song, specifically selecting a song, or letting the playlist play all songs in order. This only happening on my Made for You playlists as far as I have been able to see. This only happens on my Roku, it does not happen on my Android or Windows devices.
I did not see your most recent message until today. As soon as I opened the app today (03/19/2023) a Spotify update was installed - Version 2.10 - Build 21. I had not checked the version/build number when I first sent in my request for assistance and do not know what build I had at that time, but I had checked for updates on that day and Spotify was up to date according to the Roku updater.
The song randomizer is OFF and none of the songs are marked as unplayable.

Thank you for any assistance you can give me.

Hey @Quick_As_Dreams,

We really appreciate you taking the time to record this video and describing your issue in detail.

As a next step in narrowing down the possible cause, would it be possible for you to ask a friend or a family member to log in on your TV with their account and check if the behavior persists?

Another thing you can try is connecting the TV to a different internet connection such as a hotspot on your phone.

Let us know how it goes.

Are you new to the Community? Take a moment to introduce yourself!

This is also happening to me, were you able to resolve it?

No, it still happens as of today.  The current Spotify build is Version 2.10 - Build 27 (it was build 21 when I first reported this several weeks back).  .

Hey folks,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

@RTSonRadio, would you mind letting us know exactly what troubleshooting steps you've tried so far from this thread? That way, we'll avoid repeating any steps.

On another note, would you mind letting us know if this is happening only in the playlist Made for you?

@Quick_As_Dreams, just to confirm, have you tried the suggestions provided by @Mihail above? If you haven't, it'll help us a lot if you give them a try. Since you mentioned previously that this is happening in your Daily Mixes 1 and 2, did you notice if this is happening on the Discover Weekly or Release Radar?

It's definitely something to do with playlists.  If we try to play the song on an iphone, then switch to playing on the roku, it just doesn't play anything.  If we try to restart the song while it's streaming to the roku, it plays the first song in the last playlist we were in.
