Hi,
I got a new Amazon Fire TV Stick 4k Max (2nd Gen). I installed everything and renamed the stick on the Amazon Website. For all other sticks, the name then changes automatically also for Spotify Connect in this case.
However, for this new Fire TV Stick, it just is always named "AFTKRT", which is kinda annoying and cryptic.
Is this a known issue and how could this be fixed?
Best
Hi there @kevink98,
Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.
'AFTKRT' is the build model number of the Fire TV stick. Now, we haven't received reports about this. For starters, does this happen in one device in particular? Or across all devices where you use Spotify? Additionally, have you checked if the device shows with the correct name when connecting it to any other app/platform?
In this case, we'd recommend restarting the device and then trying to rename it again from your Amazon account. Once done, log out and back in from Spotify and check if that makes a difference.
Keep us posted!
Hi,
no, i renamed the device as any other Fire TV Stick. It works for every other device. Just for this model, the renaming process doesn't work. I tried restarting the device, updating the device data and all other possibilities known to me.
I'm convinced it is a problem to be solved by Spotify or Amazon.
Hey @kevink98,
Thanks for your reply.
We can't give you an ETA for a fix, but we appreciate you taking the time to report this issue. In the meantime, please make sure to keep your app up to date.
Cheers,
Thank you for forwarding the issue to the corresponding team!
And happy new year 🙂
Same problem here wirh AFTKRT. At my first pairing with the Fire TV stick I didn't knew that is my device and I was a little bit confused and scary to connect with it. What if it was a foreign device? How can I change the name? Any umcomplicated solution? Thanks.
Experiencing the exact same issue. Please let know when resolved.
Experiencing same issue with my firestick 4kmax
I have two and both show up with this name.
They are setup with the correct names on Amazon website and show up correctly elsewhere
Same issue with my Amazon Fire TV 4k (2023) which just appears as AFTKM even though I renamed it months ago in "Amazon Devices" on the web.
Same issue. It appears to only be on the Firestick MAX as the normal 4ks flow the name from Amazon down to Spotify. I have many tvs and Firesticks connected up and both of the MAX Show up as AFKKRK when trying to control with the app on the phone. Android NOTE20 or S21 either one shows the same.
Same. Please resolve.
Same problem, very annoying. Appreciate a quick fix!
I have multiple FireTV 4K Max (1st gen) that the iOS Spotify app shows the names that I set on Amazon.com, under Devices.
I bought the same FireTV 4K Max, but 2nd Gen model, and Spotify will only show this device as AFTKRT. It’s the same with another 2nd Gen FireTV 4K Max I bought for a family member. Spotify does not recognize the name set for FireTV.
Could be a bug in the FireTV firmware for these 2nd Gen versions
Two multi-billion dollar companies can’t fix this bug in 6 months?
Guess @MihailY was not able to forward it to the correct team or it just has no priorities for spotify 😀
