When playing music using Spotify on iOS, my BT enabled hearing aids switch to "phone mode" because the phone is claiming them. That is fine, and that's how it works with all other apps that produce sound.
When streaming Spotify on any other device (with the same premium account), the iOS app sees this and instantly becomes a remote control. That's fine too, that's what Spotify Connect does. But the app is still claiming the hearing aids, as if it was playing the sound itself. The result is that I'm listening to my phone I, but it's not playing any music.
I could turn off bluetooth on my phone so the hearing aids cannot be claimed. But I would lose all control over them.
I could stop the Spotify app on my phone but then I would lose control over the headless Spotify instance.
Anyone knows a solution to this annoying problem?
The hearing aids are GN Resound LiNX. Latest version of all software.
Hey there @vinnov,
Thanks for reaching out to us, and welcome to the Community 🙂
We'd first recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app to see if you notice anything new. This is often an overlooked step, but it can be helpful to get rid of any corrupted files that might be causing issues.
Keep us posted on how it goes so we can continue with the help if needed.
Hey @vinnov,
Thanks for getting back to us 🙂
It's a good idea to try re-pairing them.
In case nothing changes, could you share with us the following? We'll look into this further.

I do have a similar issue,
Iphone 11 connected with BT headset, Spotify playing music with SpotifyConnect on JBL Playlist --> Volume control not working
Workaround: Turn off BT on phone -->Volume Control on JBL working flawless
You should be able to use volume control on the SpotifyConnect device while using the spotify app.
My daughter with Android device can choose what device to use volume control

Hi, I have a Samsung Galaxy 9+ and recently signed up for Premium Spotify. I also use Phonak hearing aids but it continues to cut the music off causing much frustration. Is there anything I can do to resolve before I have to cancel my subscription?
Hi there @TwoWhitePups,
We're sorry to see you've been experiencing this issue.
Could you let us know if you've tried any troubleshooting so far and for how long this has been going on :?
We'd also appreciate it if you could share your OS and Spotify versions with us.

Many thanks!
Software update: G965USQU9FUL1 - Up to date
Spotify: 8.7.20.1261
Hearing Aids are up to date.
I've uninstall and the redownloaded the Spotify app.
If he stands still, it's fine. The minute he moves, it breaks up.
What else do you need to know?
Hi @TwoWhitePups!
There seems to be some sort of incompatibility between Spotify and the hearing aids. Could you check if the same issue persists when using a different phone (if possible, try a phone that has a different OS than the current one you're using).
Let us know how it goes.
I had this exact issue with my Phonak hearing aids, on iOS and when using Spotify Connect. This resolved it for me:
1. Settings -> Devices
2. Devices Lock Screen (disable toggle)
