That being said, we'd like to add some insights. Just to clarify, that 0.01 charge when you add a payment method corresponds to a temporary authorization charge. Some payment providers issue this charge and usually, this amount returns automatically to your bank account after a few hours. In that sense, you should be able to see that amount already refunded.


Now, since you mentioned you're having issues when trying to upgrade to Premium, we'd recommend you make sure your payment method has sufficient funds, and is:

  • Registered in the same country to your Spotify account.
  • Enabled for foreign, secure online, and recurring purchases.
  • Opted into e-commerce and cross border payments.

If your payment method meets these requirements, but the issue persists, try this:

  • Entering your payment details again using a private/incognito window.
  • Get in touch with your payment provider, so they can check if everything is in order.
  • Using a different payment method.

It might just be a temporary connection issue, so we advise you to wait at least 24 hours since your last attempt to try again as well.
