Hi,
I have Spotify premium and on my Windows Phone 8.1 (Lumia 920) the app hangs in the initial loading screen. The loading dots are still working normally though. The app just stays on this screen. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app several times to no avail. On the old app I had another problem where I could see my playlists and songs but I could not play any of them. This happened on my old device too (another 920 which broke). When I intially reinstall the app the login screen works as expected it's not until I login does it start hanging on the loading screen.
In the time that it is open it uses a lot of data (200mb) and a lot of battery. This problem existed also on WP8.0 so it's not 8.1 causing the problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Harry

The application may not play nicely with two step authentication, but there are a few things you can do to get around it.
1. You can try setting an Application Password for Spotify from your Facebook settings then use that to log into Spotify (with Facebook) rather than your default two step authentication:
https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=security§ion=per_app_passwords&view
2. Alternatively, you can set up dedicated login credentials for Spotify so you can login without Facebook. To do that, you need to set a special device password here:
http://www.spotify.com/login/?forward_url=/account/set-device-password/
Once you have done that, you should be able to login using the numerical Spotify username shown on your online overview (link below) and your device password set above:

Anything weird about your account? Are you in the right country etc?
Do you have very, very large playlists or a very large number of them?
Do you have more than 3333 starred tracks?
Yeah, I'm in NZ and I have 7 playlists each with no more than 200 songs. I also only have about 40 starred songs
Is your account linked to Facebook and do you have two factor authentication enabled?
I've got the same problem. L920 with WP8.1. My FB account is with two steps veryfication. After typing password, apps loading for inifite time.
Hi yes, I do log in with facebook and I do have two step authentification. I log in with my normal password and then I get a text with a temporary password that i should use. After I enter this I am stuck in permanent loading screen

Thakns for the advice. Setting a device password and not using my facebook credentials worked perfectly.
Thanks for the help!
Hi,
having this same issue with Lumia 930- after setting my credentials and hitting Log In nothing happens, only dots are moving from left to right.
I have tried to log in with Spotify and Facebook credentials. On my iMac Spotify works great.
- Software: Windows Phone 8.1 Update
- OS version: 8.10.14157.200
Any instructions?
Cheers,
Simo
