My Question or Issue

Hi! Recently the ads in my account started to be played in Portuguese from Brazil, while before they were in Portuguese from Portugal. This annoys me a bit more. 😃
Was there a known update regarding this?

As far as I can see, my account is properly configured regarding the language and the country.

We'll be happy to relay your feedback to the folks backstage, but we'd need a bit more info so we can send out a complete report about this situation. Could you please answer the following:

  1. Is this happening on audio/ visual ads or both?
  2. Is it on a particular ad or this happens for multiple/all ads?
  3. Could you give us an advert that could serve as example (maybe record a short video and send us a link)?
  4. Also can you specify the rough date and time, when you've noticed such an add with wrong language being played for you. 
  5. Finally, please give us info about your device (make, model and OS) and the exact Spotify version that you have installed.

We'll be keeping an eye out for your reply, thanks!

1. As far as I can see, only in audio ads. In the image I read it in Portuguese from Portugal.

2. I am not 100% sure, but I think I listened several ads already. The most frequent one is the "update to premium".

3. Usually I listen to Spotify in the background. It is hard to record a video. What would be the content?

4. I listened to such an ad today (10/10/2022) at around 14:50 (Lisbon time).

5. Lenovo L590, Windows 10, Spotify para Windows 1.1.95.893.g6cf4d40c

I have got an update. I have just listened to an ad which is in Portuguese from Portugal. One from an external product. But the one about Spotify Premium is still in Portuguese from Brazil.

Same happened to me today. Even though most ads play in Portuguese, recently I've been noticing a recurring Spotify Premium ad in the brazilian dialect. This is an offensive act of cultural discrimination and must be fixed as soon as possible.

Last time I've reported this problem someone said it would be reviewed, but it's been a few months and it still persists, which makes me believe Spotify doesn't care at all.

I will stop listening every time this ad plays and, if it persists, I will delete my account.

Happened again today. I will bump this topic every time the issue happens until it gets solved.

In this case, keep in mind we'll need all the info asked above by @Kiril so we can forward the info to the right team. We're constantly monitoring this kind of inconvenience in this thread. So we recommend having a look at it and posting there all the info you find in the pinned message at the top of the thread, so the tech team can look at the behavior described thoroughly.

All the requested info was already provided, and that should be enough. You're not doing anything about it because you don't want to.

This is a problematic situation of cultural hegemony that deems Spotify's ethics seriously questionable. Furthermore, I cannot allow someone to state they are "constantly monitoring this kind of inconvenience" when I've contacted support months ago and the problem is not yet solved.

Please, don't try to introduce extra steps to deal with a simple issue when you have all the requested information at your disposal. And, above all, don't try to justify your inefficiency by demanding more from users than what you can deliver as a support team.

Bumping this thread as this issue is still occuring after 2 years and has been annoying. I shouldn't be getting brazilian ads as I am Portuguese and while ads are usually already annoying having to listen to them in Brazilian makes them even more annoying. even more when it's a woman speaking. You have all the information to fix t his so please do so.
