both mobile and desktop apps running slowly

both mobile and desktop apps running slowly

Spotify is suddenly running super slow for me both on the desktop app and mobile app. Switching songs, deleting songs from a playlist, removing downloads, loading pages, any function takes multiple seconds to process. A clean reinstall (both devices) did not help things.

Hey @rainbowforte,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

In this case, does this happen if you change the internet connection you're using? Is this happening over WiFi? 3G/4G? Ethernet? If possible, you can create a hotspot on your phone and connect your computer to it, to see if you notice any difference. Give it a try and let us know if changing the connection makes any difference.

On another note, did you notice if this started to happen at the same time on both your devices? Did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update? If yes, please send us the details.

Lastly, do you use a VPN? If yes, try switching it off. Keep in mind Spotify doesn't officially support VPN services. This means that issues with the app while using a VPN are expected behavior.

Keep us in the loop!

Hi AlejaR, thanks for your response. This problem is occurring both on my home wifi and 5G. I last updated my phone on the Dec 11, which is probably around when it started, though I can't say for sure if it was before or after. It started happening on both my phone and desktop at the same time. I tried using a hotspot for my desktop but the problem persisted. I do not use a VPN.

Thanks for the details, @rainbowforte!

If the same thing is happening on both devices using different connections, could you try logging into a different Spotify account (a friend's or a relative's) to see if that'll make any difference? It is possible for the issue to be account-related so it's worth checking in this situation.

If there's no difference afterwards, it'd be great if you could send us one or two video recordings showing how things look like from your end (just make sure no sensitive info is visible). You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. If the attachment is too big - we'd suggest that you upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it) or upload it as unlisted YouTube video(s).

Let us know is anything else comes up.
