Had the same problem, it's because you're typing the email with a capital letter...

That was it, did not realize that this field was case sensitive. Thanks.

Solution:  Don't use uppercase letters (even though they are legal in e-mail addresses)

Dumbass millenial web developers responsible for the Spotify website are ignorant of RFC 822's requirement that e-mail addresses be treated in a case-insensitive manner (Section 3.4.7).  Set up your own rules as you like for usernames but if you're going to use e-mail addresses then honor the standing precedent.

Spotify's website is at fault.
