About the student ID authentication system

About the student ID authentication system

I have a question regarding Spotify's student discount.

I just applied for Spotify's student discount (I entered the name of my university and sent a photo of my student ID). A few minutes later, I received an email from Sheer (SheerID Verification) saying, ``Let's proceed with Spotify authentication.'' I received an email with a button to ``Complete authentication.'' However, even if I press [Complete Authentication], I am redirected to the screen where I have to send a photo of my student ID card. *I repeated this twice, but it was the same.

I tried again in the browser (private mode), but as of now I am not receiving any emails.

What should I do about this? Thank you for your reply.

Hey @Aramaru,

Thanks for reaching out.

This sounds like an issue on SheerID's site, so I recommend reaching out to them about it 🙂 You can reach them through this form: https://verify.sheerid.com/verification-support/feedback.html?token=.

If it occurs on a Spotify.com page, however, let me know and I'll see what I can suggest!

Just read through the thread about Spotify's new identity validation service for student accounts

Seems like they're tightening things up to make sure only students get that sweet discount. Personally, I get the need for it – keeps things fair, right?

As for the service itself, well, it's a bit of a hassle having to verify every year, but I guess it beats paying full price. I frequently use the identity validation service for such purposes. It's usually pretty fast and easy.

Some folks are concerned about privacy, which is fair enough, but it sounds like Spotify's trying to keep our info safe. What do you all think about it? Worth the few extra steps to save some cash, or do you miss the simpler days of just signing up? Let's chat!

I've been using Spotify Premium for a while now, and I get the need for verification, but I understand the frustrations too. It's always a hassle when tech glitches or verification processes get in the way of enjoying your music stress-free.
