Can't Join Duo Despite Cancelling Google Pay Subscription

My Question or Issue

My partner has set up a Spotify Duo account. They sent me a link to add my current premium account to the plan. When I click the link and sign in, a message shows up saying "You’re currently paying for a Spotify subscription through Google. To join a Duo plan, cancel your existing subscription on Google Play, then try again.". I have now cancelled my Google Pay subscription, but the same error keeps popping up whenever I click the link. I've tried on my phone and my desktop PC, I've tried getting my partner to send me the link again; nothing seems to work.

Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated!

Has your subscription ended yet? If not, you’ll need to wait until it does, as you won’t be able to accept the invite while it’s still active.
